The Great Sand Dunes in Southern Colorado are a strange phenomenon. They were formed as rivers and glaciers receded and winds eventually blew the silty, sandy bottom around. The process continues today as the dunes grow and change daily in the San Luis Valley below the massive Sangre De Cristo Mountain Range.
